78th Indonesian Independence Day, Lights at Seoul City Hall and Namsan Tower in Red and White. In commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day , on Thursday 17 August 2023 the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul. In collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government held a Light Up Red and White event at landmark locations in Seoul, namely City Hall and Namsan Tower. Both are places where tourists are famous and frequently visited by local and foreign tourists. Red and white lights shine on the Seoul City Hall Building on August 17, 2023, 20.00-22.00 Korean time. In front of the City Hall which was highlighted by red and white lights, Gandi Sulistiyanto, Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea with his wife, Susi A. Sulistiyanto and the extended family of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul delivered greetings for the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

Built in 1925, Seoul City Hall was renovated in 2008. A team of architects designed City Hall to be a futuristic building using solar energy. In 2012, the old City Hall building was connected to a new building based on environmentally friendly principles. The new building contains 70 thousand plants from 14 different species.Meanwhile, Namsan Tower will be illuminated with red and white lights on August 17, 2023, 19.00-23.00 Korean time. In addition to the red and white lights, the logo commemorating the 50th anniversary of friendship between Indonesia and Korea was also displayed. Namsan Tower was built more than 4 decades ago. The tower is the first building built in Korea that is intended as a multi-purpose building. Even though there are now many taller buildings, Namsan Tower remains an iconic tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
2023 also marks the 50th anniversary of Friendly Relations between Indonesia – Korea. Themed closer friendship and stronger partnership, diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea will reach half a century in 2023. Going forward, it is targeted to increase people to people diplomacy between the two countries.
